Uganda is attracting more non traditional funding for its infrastructure projects outside China with the latest options upwards of five billion dollars from several European funds with an added interest in export funding.
The European fund based monies come with a claim of better pricing from as low as 0.5% to 5%,

Bank of Uganda has licensed the first Islamic Banking financial institution, ending a wait of more than 20 years. The move means that Ugandans will now operate a hybrid banking system through which customers will be able to access both conventional and Islamic Banking products. Uganda's national debt is manageable - Minister Kasaija
The Minister of Finance Matia Kasaija has said that government will meet its obligations in clearing foreign and domestic debts.
Addressing journalists at Media Center in Kampala, Kasaija said that government debt stands at 41.3 trillion shillings with some concessions going up to 35 years.
However, there is fear that by the time government takes on other projects such as oil refinery, construction of the pipeline and standard gauge railway, Uganda will hit above the 50 percent ceiling which will put the economy at stake.
The minister also dismissed roomers that China is taking over the economy through financing and lending to government for various projects.#NTVNews

Uganda’s low annual economic growth rate of 5.3% over the last three years, has been attributed to episodes of droughts, which affected agricultural production across the country.
This was revealed by the Minister of Finance and Planning, Matia Kasaijja, while presenting the Ministry’s performance report at the NRM implementation performance week.
